Privacy Policy

Introduction
EarthWalk ("the App") is a step-counting app for iPhone operated by the "Earth Walk" App Development Team ("we"). This policy describes the information the App handles, how we use and store it, and when it is shared.
1. No account required
You do not need to create an account or log in to use the App. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number or location. On first launch the App generates a random anonymous identifier to tell installations apart and stores it in your device's keychain. This identifier does not identify you personally.
2. Step data (Health / HealthKit)
With your permission, the App reads your step count from the iPhone Health app (HealthKit). Steps are converted to distance on your device and used to calculate journey progress, daily goal achievement, streaks and milestones. The step records read from Health are never sent to our servers. We store only the progress records derived from them (see section 3). We never use Health data for advertising or marketing, and we never share it with third parties. The App does not write to Health.
3. Information stored on our servers
To provide and improve the App, we store the following, linked to your anonymous identifier: • Journey and goal progress: streak length, the days you met your goal, milestones reached, and journey events (start, arrival at a checkpoint, completion) with the distance at that point • Usage: app launches, screens viewed, purchase-screen views and taps, notification settings and similar actions, with timestamps • The country or region code from your device's region setting • Subscription status (see section 4) • If you installed via an App Store advert (Apple Search Ads), the country and campaign identifier Your IP address may be recorded temporarily in server logs when the App communicates with our servers.
4. Purchases
Premium is purchased through Apple's App Store. Payment details such as card numbers are handled by Apple; we never receive them. To verify and restore purchases we use RevenueCat, a subscription-management service, which processes your anonymous identifier, the product purchased, purchase / renewal / cancellation dates, transaction identifiers and the App Store country.
5. iCloud
So that your records survive a change of iPhone, the App may store a few settings, such as the date you started using it, in your own iCloud key-value storage. This data lives in your Apple account on Apple's servers; we cannot access it.
6. Notifications
Goal and reminder notifications are local notifications scheduled on your device when you allow them. We do not send push notifications from a server. You can turn notifications off at any time in iPhone Settings.
7. How we use information
• To provide the App (showing and syncing progress, reflecting your subscription, carrying records over to a new device) • To analyse usage so we can improve features and build new ones • To find and fix bugs • To prevent abuse • To respond to your enquiries
8. Service providers
For the purposes above we use the following providers, which process information on their servers on our instructions and not for their own purposes: • Supabase (database and anonymous authentication): the information in section 3 • RevenueCat (subscription management): the information in section 4 • Apple (App Store, iCloud, Health): purchase processing, iCloud storage and reading from Health We do not sell your information and we do not share it with advertising companies.
9. Disclosure to third parties
Apart from the providers above, we do not disclose your information to third parties without your consent, except where disclosure is required by law or is necessary to protect someone's life, safety or property and obtaining consent is impractical.
10. Retention and deletion
Data on your device is deleted when you uninstall the App (your step history stays in the iPhone Health app). Data on our servers is kept for as long as needed to provide and improve the App, then deleted or anonymised. To have your server data deleted, contact us at the address below and we will explain how to identify your anonymous identifier.
11. Children
The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date.
